The “Mobility and regions” survey, undertaken with the help of local authorities by the “Eco-Mayors” in partnership with Mobivia Groupe, has produced encouraging results with regards the attention given by local authorities to eco-mobility.
An exclusive analysis of the practices of local authorities in the area of mobility has been carried by the national association of “Eco-Mayors”, a group of Mayors and local elected representatives for the environment and sustainable development, in partnership with Mobivia Groupe.
In total, over one hundred local authorities, from small rural communities to large towns responded to a detailed questionnaire, at the end of 2010, about their strategies and plans in the area of mobility. The results of these questionnaires have shown the emergence of new practices and identified the principal drivers for local authorities in promoting more sustainable mobility.
The answers given by local authorities show that mobility is a central feature of their sustainable development strategies. They claim to play an active role in many areas involving their constituents while also encountering certain problems in driving their own best practices forward.
